- Generally, once you settle your capital, the first item to build is a combat unit to explore the area. But there are other choices you might want to consider.
- Next, if there is no security threat then build your first Settler. Keep in mind the barbarian scouts start to appear after turn 7.
- By turn 15 you should have enough gold to purchase the next unit, which should be a builder to improve land and increase food/production or gold output. Find out where to get the gold early on.
- The next build should be your second Settler, it is time to expand.
- The first city should build a Monument. The focus on culture early is important to get to Governor promotions and new forms of government.
- Assess the game situation and purchase a combat unit, if necessary
- If there are luxury resources to improve then get a builder in your capital, otherwise build a district.
- The next build in your first city could a trader or a slinger.
- Your second city should be settled in a triangular shape in relation to the capital and the first city, so that you can take advantage of district adjacency in between.
- Build another monument in that second city.
- Next, ensure you have a decent military strength, ideally you should have 3 ranged and at least two melee units.
- Continue to expand, improve the land and fulfill eureka and inspiration boosts.
